Filling up my Town with NPCs – Rolling up some People using the Solo Adventurer’s Toolkit and my own List

I am working on a Town to publish over at Drivethrurpg. I have a lot of the Districts already in place, but now, we need some people to fill up our Town. I am using the Solo Adventurer’s Toolbox Part 1 and my on Random Tables RPG for the Names.

I will show you a few examples of how easy it will be to create a Character with the Book. The only Rule I will use is if the Dice are not logical I will reroll. I want Characters in my Town that make the most sense.

Spice Bazaar

So in my City, there will be a Market and there will be a Spice Bazaar. I need a main Spice Vendor. I decided, that this City will be Human so I won’t roll for Classes.

The First Roll is a Gender and Alignment Roll.

07 – Male – 63 – Lawful Evil – Ha Interesting.

Now we roll for the Age. Let’s see if the Dice is going to be nice…. 02. Well, that is not going to work is it? So let’s roll again. 82 – OK an 82 Year Man that is Lawful Evil..

Our next two are Disposition and Economic Status.

79 – Pity and 93 – Royalty-level wealth

For his looks, I will use my own Tables to find his Eyes, Hair, and Skin.

1 – Brown Eyes, 3 – Blonde Hair and 1 – Fair Skin

18 – His name is Thalion Andersen (Danish)

Here is the Story I came up with.

You meet Thalion Andersen a Danish Sailor stranded in Port Azure decades ago. His blonde hair is turning Gray. His Brown Eyes and Fair Skin is not usual for Port Azures Residence. His Life is his Spice Stand at the Azure Market. He knows exactly how to bargain with the Tourists arriving at Port Azure. He would never steal but he also would not say no to an easy target.

I then had the Idea to get a second Marchent working at the Bazaar and had a Spice Market Stall. Funny enough the Dice Rolled again a Danish Name and so Eamon Sorensen was born.

Miriam’s Oddities

Welcome to Miriam’s Oddities a darker-looking Store selling all kinds of Bits and Pieces

Now let us find a Miriam. – Female Miriam 93 – Horvat – 57 Years old.

1 – Brown Eyes – 6 – White Hair – 3 – Medium Skin

74 – Neutral Evil – Wow 3 Merchants and all 3 had an Evil Alignment…

21 – Insane – 28 – Can support themselves

No one has ever counted all the Pieces Miriam sells at her stall. Whatever you are looking for you will probably find it at Miriam’s Oddities. Many of the Town folk are saying that Miriam claimed she saw a Mermaid in the Sea one day. No one has ever believed her and a lot call her an Evil Witch behind her back. 57 Years old she has already white Hair. But, is she really that Evil, or is it just a facade to sell more stuff, she collected over the Years? Her favorite Spot is the Beach next to the Harbour early in the Morning. “You would not believe what I found.”

The Harbormaster’s Office:

Now let us find a Harbormaster at the Driftwood Docks.

2 – He is Male – His Name is 59 – Mael Fernandez. And he is 67 years old.

08 – Lawful Good

59 – Vengeful – 48 Comfortable

Oder 48 – Single-Minded 59 – Well-off

I like the Single-Minded and Well-off combo better with a Lawful Good.

When arriving with a Ship at Port Azure you have to talk to the Harbormaster Mael Fernandez. He will be most likely stationed in his Office down at the Driftwood Docks. Tell him how long you will be here at Port Azure and pay the Port Fee. 1d4 Gold Coin per Day. Every Coin will land in the Register. He does not like people who do not get along with the Law.

The Sea Serpent Inn

While we are at it, let’s create the Sea Serpent Inn and give it an Owner.

In the Solo Adventurer’s Toolkit, you have a Chapter dedicated to Inns and Taverns.

Now for the Owner

92 – She is a Female – 23 – Brielle Rossi, 28 years old.

3 – Green Eyes – 2 – Dark Brown Hair – 5 – Than Skin

27 – Lawful Neutral

68 – Resignation- 36 Climbing the ladder or 36 Weird – 68 – Rich

I don’t really like either Weird or Resignation. Let’s roll again and see what we can find. 16 Mischievous (good or evil)

OK. How about Mischievous and Climbing the ladder? I like that.

Meet Brielle Rossi at the Sea Serpent Inn. Green Eyes, Dark Brown Hair, and Than Italien Skin. She inherited the Inn from her Father who passed away 3 years ago. 4 – Thing – 304 – interrogate (befragen and – 173 – dispute Streit 233 – faint – OK I have a list with all the Places in my town. Let me roll a d20 and let’s see who we get. Interesting 1 –

– Go to the Spice Market and Talk to Thalion Andersen at the Spice Emporium. Someone has stolen a valuable Spice out of his Market.

He is pretty sure that Eamon from Spice Heaven knows more than he would tell.

1 – Person

– Talk to Mael Fernandez, the Harbormaster at the Driftwood Docks. A young Adventurer put his small Ship at Port, paid for a week in advance, and never came back. His name was Leoric Silva not more than 20, 22 years old.

2 – Creature

2d20 – 6+5 = 11 – It is a Flying Snake

Go to the Beast Masters Corner and ask Theron Smith. He is missing a Flying Snake out of his Beast Cage. The Snake is quite Powerful, try not to harm her, but if it is necessary here are her stats

AC 13 (armour Skales) HP 13 – Speed 30 ft
STR +0 – DEX +2 – CON +2 – INT -2 – WIS -1 – CHA – +3
BITE: +4, 5 ft, 5 (1d6+2) piercing damage

I will come up with a few more Adventure Hooks and Rumours and put them at the End of the PDF.

Summary
